Custom Picture Framing

Customers bring in the most amazing things. The best items are the original ones. No matter the artist, it is humbling to work with someone else's artistic expression. 

With 40 years of experience, and framing and matting choices beyond count, Alan has written a history of bringing treasures to life in a way some didn't think possible. Alan is known for his ability to embrace an item in a way that echoes not only the piece itself, but echoes the owner as well.

When you bring in a piece - whether it be a rolled-up canvas, oil painting, photograph, drawing, or diploma, or maybe even a medal, or a racing suit - Alan will walk you through the myriad of framing and matting choices and narrow them down to the one that frames the item perfectly.

Product Photography

Focusing on wine bottle shots, our product photography will bring your sought after juice to life.

Standard Bottle Shots include:

  • Solid white seamless background.
  • One standard face-on shot
  • high resolution JPEG
  • high resolution PNG & web-friendly PNG with transparent backgrounds.
  • Minimal retouch work will be done to minor label and bottle blemishes. 

To minimize retouch work, we recommend supplying bottles free of blemishes, with the seam on the back or side, and studio ready labels and foil. If desired, extensive retouch work is available. 

Normal production time : 5 business days. RUSH service available for additional fee. 

Still life / beauty and in-context shots are available; as well as on-site photo shoots.

Large Format Printing

Do you dream big? Well, so do we. 

Our Epson 9900 is perfect for printing on your choice of archival, fine art papers. Both the papers and inks create pieces that are archival for up to 200 years.  

  • Photography : glossy, semimatte, bryta
  • Fine-art pieces: Hot Press bright and natural, Cold Press bright and natural

INSTANT PRINTS

Our kiosk can print from your iPhone, Android, memory stick, camera memory card, and CD. Prints are ready while you wait and are available in sizes : 4x6, 5x5, 5x7, 6x8, and 8x10. Photographs are printed on a Luster finish paper.  

 

SCANNING

Flatbed, high resolution scans are done on items such as :

  • photographs
  • artwork
  • negatives : 35mm, large format, slides
  • documents

Digital scans can be made for items that are too large for the flatbed scanner. When you bring in your piece, we'll discuss how best to approach your unique item. 

 

RESTORATION

From little tears, and color restoration, to missing pieces and removing unwanted areas, we can make your photograph or document look brilliant. 

 

PICTURE FRAMES

Our large selection of frames includes classic styles for : 4x6, 5x5, 5x7, and 8x10 images. We also have ready-made sizes for 8x12, 11x14, 16x20, and 18x24. Custom matting available to create a semi-custom framing project for your image. 

 

FILM DEVELOPMENT

Did you just find some random film in the attic? We'll develop the film and print the negatives so that you can begin a journey down memory lane.

 

Old school media converted TO DVD

Those 5 minutes of the family trip to Wisconsin in 1939 are worth saving and sharing.

We provide services of transferring the following to DVD :

  • VHS
  • 8mm
  • MiniDVD
  • Super 8
  • 16mm film

Passport Photos

Conveniently located in downtown Saint Helena, Alan's will get your passport photos ready while you grab a cup of coffee, or perhaps a new pair of shoes. 

Passport and identification photos for:

  • anything that requires a 2x2 photo

Notary Public

In conjunction with the State of California, Alan's is proud to offer Notary Public services for :

  • acknowledgement
  • jurat
  • proof of execution

*Please note that you will be asked what type of notary is required. YOU must provide that answer; the Notary Public cannot answer that question for you. So, please arrive with your papers UNSIGNED, a current form of ID, and knowledge of what type of notary is required.

The Notary Public fee is $15 per signature.

Notary Public services are available Monday - Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Please call 707.963.9294 before coming in to ensure that Chris, our Notary Public, is available.
